Weaving with Knitting Yarn
Teacher: Mary Berry
Friday 12pm-6pm
Class Cost: $90
Materials Cost: $0
6 hrs

Knitting yarn is GREAT for weaving, too! (Especially when you have a STASH that rivals your LYS!) But it does have a few “quirks” that can ruin your project! Certain yarns are fabulous DESIGN choices, but need a little “special handling” to create a WOW piece. In this class, you will learn these quirks, design ideas, and more! Learn the best way to warp your loom when using knitting yarn, and how to weave in a way that gives you the fabric you want. We will focus on the special qualities of knitting yarn that make weaving with it just a bit more challenging, and answer all those pesky questions such as What do I do when a warp yarn breaks? How hard should I be beating? Can I use “this yarn” for warp? This is hands-on, warp and weave, fun and learning! You’ll walk out of this class ready to plunge head first in that gigantic cushion of stash!

Materials
I will bring a selection of yarn that furthers the objectives of the class. However, students will also be asked to bring yarn, along with scissors, their rigid heddle looms, and tools that came with their rigid heddle looms. I can also bring looms for those students who do not yet own a rigid heddle loom if they make arrangements in advance.
