If your rental property is located in the City Limits of the City of New Castle you are required to obtain a City of New Castle Rental Housing Business License each year.

To obtain your rental housing business license for the City of New Castle for Calendar year 2025, please complete the following information submit with payment of $75.00 per dwelling unit. Incomplete applications will not be processed and may assess a late fee.

On-site inspections are required for each vacant dwelling unit, prior to occupancy by the new tenant to assure the dwelling unit is in compliance with City Codes. Inspections may also be required every two years regardless of tenant change, at the city’s discretion.

Violation of this section of the Code shall be punishable by fine of not less than one hundred dollars ($100.00) per dwelling unit. Each day that a rental property is not licensed shall be considered a separate offense with a maximum limit of 10 days.

Renewal fee includes late fees. If you are renewing after Feb. 1st a 10% late fee will be assessed on the first day of each month. If this is a new rental please use "New." Please call 302-322-9801 if you have a question regarding this late fee. Total number of Dwelling Units at Property:

	Renewal: Dwelling Unit License $75 + $0.00 late fee. List number of units in box.
	New: Dwelling Unit $75.00 per year. List number of units in box.

The cost of a Rental Business License is $75.00* per dwelling unit. After February 1st there is a 10% late fee assessed monthly for renewals. If this is a new rental permit please call the City office at 302-322-9801.

$50.00 Each subsequent inspection to ensure Code compliance.
