Summer School

English Prep

This course is designed to develop skills that provide the foundation for success in Beaumont’s English classes. In this enrichment course, students will learn active reading skills necessary for a college preparatory student, and improve grammar skills. Students will complete the assignment for one Summer Reading book and leave ready to work inde-pendently on the second assignment successfully.

Accelerated Algebra Enrichment

This course is designed to allow rising freshmen to advance to either Geometry or Honors Geometry if advanced placement was not earned through the math placement exam. Students who place into Algebra who earn a B or above in this enrichment course, will be promoted to Geometry or Honors Geometry. Freshman interested in earning the IB Diploma need to begin in Geometry in order to complete Algebra II by their sophomore year. (IB pre-requisite)

Accelerated Algebra

Technology Applications

This course introduces students to application software concentrating on word processing skills using Microsoft Word and Excel. Using Word, students advance from a review of the basics to more advanced skills of tables, columns, graphics and mail merge. Using Microsoft Excel, students create and edit spreadsheets, work with formulas and functions, and create charts using spreadsheet information. Students will also have and introduction to Google office suite.

Health

This is a basic course geared to developing skills necessary to enhance and maintain one’s physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual health. This goal of promoting well-being is emphasized by the development of habits/attitudes that prevent disease.

Physical Education

This course emphasized team and individual sports including a strong concentration on health related fitness. The possible activities include golf, track, soccer, volleyball, lacrosse and floor hockey. Evaluation is based on written quizzes, participation and performance testing.
