2022 Call for Case Study Presentations Entry Form

CALL FOR CASE STUDIES: The Texas Pain Society invites members and others to submit case studies to be considered for presentation at the 14th Annual Scientific Meeting. 

ELIGIBILITY: Fellows who are in a training program in pain management and residents with an interest in Pain Medicine who wish to submit a case study on the topic of pain.

REQUIREMENTS: Case studies should be those of relevant topics on pain. These will be reviewed according to content, originality, the literature review, style and organization.

PURPOSE: The purpose of the case study presentations at the TPS 14th Annual Scientific Meeting is strictly educational. Case studies should detail a particular clinical case, describe the clinical background of the patient and address any relevant evidence the physician discovered. They should discuss investigations undertaken in order to determine a diagnosis or differentiate between possible diagnoses and should indicate the course of treatment the patient underwent as a result. As a whole, your case study should be an informative and useful part of every physician's medical education, both during training and on a continuing basis.

REQUIREMENTS: Case studies should be those of relevant topics on pain. These will be reviewed according to content, originality, literature review, style, and organization.

PRESENTATION: All selected entries will have the opportunity to be posted to the TPS website and circulated to the meeting attendees.  The top 5 selected cases will be invited to be presented live at the TPS 14th Annual Scientific Meeting. All presenting fellows and residents will receive complimentary registration to the meeting. Presenters will have approximately 5 minutes each to speak about their case study on Saturday, October 29, 2022.

DEADLINE: All entries must be submitted through this link. They must be received no later than October 8, 2022. All power point presentations should be submitted no later than October 15 ,2022.

SUBMISSION: You may submit your case study through October 8, 2022

NOTIFICATION: A list of the primary authors’ names will be posted on the TPS website, www.texaspainsociety.org
in October. The top 5 entries will receive notification for presentation at the 14th Annual Scientific meeting by October 15, 2022.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT SUBMISSION AND ISSUES RELATED TO COPYRIGHT: Case studies previously presented or published may not be submitted to TPS without modification. Data must be updated or expanded, resulting in a new case study. The primary author will be asked to sign a Case Study Submission Agreement which confirms that the primary author agrees to grant TPS unrestricted, irrevocable permission to publish the case study in printed material and on the web. The primary author retains the case study’s copyright, and anyone wishing to use the case study after the TPS publication will be instructed to contact the primary author for permission.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • If you must cite a reference, please do so at the end of your presentation using the following format: author name, publication name, and year of publication, e.g., (Smith, J Pain, 2002).
  • If the author(s) received any funding/industry support for the research presented in the case study, or will receive support for the preparation of poster materials, a clear acknowledgment of support should be included at the end of the presentation, e.g., Supported by a grant from ABC Pharmaceuticals.
