Passing The Course

Did you not pass the skills testing?

BLS, ACLS, and PALS courses are strenuous physical activities that require the student to pass the required work. It takes some people 3 or 4 times to pass the skills testing portion and some people pass on the first time, so we recommend you keep trying until you pass. Many people pass on their first try, but sometimes there is a learning curve to learn the computer system. The American Heart Association does not allow certification cards to be issued if a student does not pass the skills testing on the VAM (voice assisted manikin) or in a regular instructor led course.

I am unable to do compressions on the RQI manikin due to injury.
If you are unable to do the compressions on the RQI manikin, you would not be able to pass the skills in an instructor led course. The manikins in both RQI and the instructor led courses have the exact same sensors to record the depth of compressions. If a student is not able to do compressions properly, the American Heart Association does not allow a certification card to be issued. You may want to talk to a supervisor and wait until your injury heals properly.

1. You can reschedule your skills testing to try again for no extra charge. During the skills testing, students are always welcome to call us for virtual assistance.
2. We can issue you a refund for the online portion of the course: $30.
3. We can issue you a BLS Advisor certification card (if you completed your online course). Many workplaces accept this card. See the card below and ask your supervisor if the BLS Advisor card is acceptable.

We have a live instructor in Antioch, CA. It is the only location that has a live instructor. We understand Antioch is far away from most of our locations. Virtual assistance may work better if you do not live near Antioch. *

Per our policy, we do not issue refunds. However, we can issue you a partial refund for the course. BLS: $30, ACLS: $120, PALS: $120. The online course that you took through RQI, cannot be transferred to take the course anywhere else. This means you would have to start the process again and retake the online course. We highly encourage you to simply come back to our office and try again to complete your skills testing. You have already done all the hard work of passing the online course and starting the hands-on skills session. *
